when will he settle down?!

So we have 6 dogs ,all of who have access to a doggie door so they can come and go as they want. Rocky being the "young un" is really hyper when he is in the house. We often have to separate him from the group or tether him (like now) while he is inside. Sometimes he goes into the front yard to give everyone (2 legged and 4) a break. I don't like that he is segregated. When will he chill out?

How much exercise and training does he get?

It sounds like you keep him active but he may require more exercise.

My female has a TON of energy. I take her to the beach with my friends ACD mix and they run their butts off to the point of exhaustion. When we get home my female is very well behaved, calm and tired for the rest of the day.

as much as I would like to take him running everyday I can't physically do that. I do try to excersise him as much as possible. I even used our riding lawnmower to let him jog with me ...lol Lot of funny looks with that one! Guess I should gas up the mower

He has started being reactive , so the off leash hikes are temporarily on hold as well as walking through stores. This is what our trainer has told me. She said I need to set him up for success not failure.

My sister helped me by sitting on the tailgate of the truck and letting him run that way. He got up to 15 mph and looked happy. Of course we were very careful and did watch his body language ,but he actually wanted to go faster! It was beautifal to watch him run.

So you see I do try to give him what he needs ,just having to think outside the box.
