Need some advice

ok this IS my first german shepherd, so don't laugh...i know they're truly not at all like any other dog, so that's why i'm asking you guys this... wolf is just about 9 months old. he is soooo mopey. he looks so sad all the time, he mopes around, he doesn't want to play anymore, he wines and growls all the time for no reason. just now he was wining in the bedroom, took his blanket and came out here but he wined the whole time, now hes gently growling and oh wait hes back to wining. if i try to pet him he growls lightly, but doesnt go to bite or nip. its like he just hates me and wants to be left alone. he has a totally clean bill of health. is this normal for the teenage stage to be mopey like this? i'm really frustrated cause i love him more then anything and i feel like he just hates me. the vet couldn't find anything wrong with him, which actually makes me feel worse...but the vet just wanted to put him on antibiotics "just in case." i didn't want to do that, so i said we'd just wait and see how it goes.

Do they do a "blood work-up" on him?.....he could be anemic or be hypothyroid.

No it's not normal. Have you had his hips x-rayed, spine, etc.?

Why not have the vet run bloodwork to see if there's an infection before putting him on antibiotics.

I agree with the blood work-up and x-rays.. but if those turn out to be ok.. has anything in his routine changed recently?? How long has this been going on?

Can anyone else engage him or is just you that he has an issue with?

he doesn't want to play with my husband or anyone....he doesn't even chase the cats anymore. the only time he seems to be his old self is when we come home from work or shopping or whatever and he freaks out cause he's so happy to see us. but that quickly fades and he mopes again.

Find another vet.
And perhaps a behaviorist.
But my instinct tells me there's something wrong w/his health.
Did the labwork check for thyroid?

I don't have any suggestions to what is wrong, but that is not normal. I would talk to another vet. I hope he is better soon.
