Coat question

Hey guys! Random question. I was wondering if coat color/pattern (like solid black vs blanket back, vs saddleback) affects the actually coat quality (both undercoat and outer) of the GSD. Are their coats generally the same as any classic saddleback as far as feel, fullness, etc? I mean as long as they are breed to have a short coat, will they match that of a classic's short coat?

Coat length has more to do with genetics than what color it is.
If one or both parents have a tight coat, then the pup will also. My male mother has a thicker coat, but she is not a long coat, he tends to be a bit thicker, too. My female is a bi-color and her coat is very tight. Her parents had short stock coats.
Coat condition has to do with nutrition and environment.
