So Mad At Hubby!

Hubby told me that he thinks that it's my fault that Wolfie is small! That I did something to stunt his growth. I can't make up my mind if he was joking or what, but I want to punch him. The vet and my breeder told me to feed Wolfie adult food even as a puppy, so there is little to no chance of him getting pano, and so that he will grow at a nice and slow rate. That's what I did. Hubby said he should have had puppy food and that I should have fed him more. What?! I go by the recommendations on the bag of food! I don't think Wolfie is small, either! He's 24 1/2 inches tall and weighs between 80 and 85 lbs. He just turned 13 months old, so he has a little growing left to do. Plus he is DDR, so he is on the short and stocky side, not the tall American dogs that we both have always had. Now he has me wondering..GRR

He's wrong - it's GREAT when our pups grow slowly and reach the right size! My breeder and vet both told me not to feed Rem puppy food, the high protein causes our already fast growing pups to grow faster, and that's not good. Why does he want him to be bigger? He's fine the way he is, he's the correct size...

Nah, he's smaller because he keeps a pack of smokes in the woodpile and sneaks one once in a while. Everyone knows that stunts your growth.....LOL

Don't feel bad. My hubby always tries to sneak Hondo extra food because he thinks he is too thin. Hondo is now 16 months and is really starting to fill out. He looks very masculine and is beginning to bulk. Of course, hubby says it's because he is giving him a little something-something 'extra'. My secret weapon was buying raw chicken feet for Hondo and hubby gives him those. At least he is snacking well, and is still slightly under weight. Due to Hondo's missing toes, it is what is best for him.

I guess he's just used to taller shepherds.

Hubby always gives Wolfie snacks. I'm lucky that the only snacks Wolfie likes are raw marrow bones or raw carrots and green beans. Not much weight can be put on eating those things.

Already a good size according to the standard and he's not done growing.

At 24.5" he is in the mid range for height and he's 38 kg. Small? Maybe your husband wanted a horse instead?

Everyone told us that Gunnar would be smaller because both his parents were small (never saw his parents) and we got him fixed at 6 months, per our adoption contract.

I admit he's not real tall, but he weighs 90 lbs and is slender and in good health.

Who can tell. I laugh because my sister-in-law and brother-in-law are both 5'8". Their son is 6'4" and he just turned 15. His sister is 5'11" and she's only 13. Go figure.
