GSD Allergy?

Thought just entered my mind. I go to pick up my pup in 2 weeks and was wondering if anyone had any experience with people who had an allergy to GSDs out of nowhere who were never allergic to other breeds?

My mothers constantly complaining about being allergic to dogs and how she has to get allergy shots because of it. This is coming from someone with a spaniel who sleeps on her pillow every night right next to her for almost 10 years now.

When i first got lucy she would complain about not bringing her near her because of her "allergies". It's been two years and i still haven't seen one sneeze and lucy's licked her face plenty of times. Pretty much on a daily basis every time they see eachother.

Most people allergic to cats are allergic to the cat saliva, not the fur. So just people someone is allergic to cats doesn't mean they will be allergic to dogs, and vice versa.

Even if someone is allergic to dogs, they can eventually become immune to THAT dog. My dad is allergic to everything with fur, and it only took him a few months before he became immune to Chrono. He's still allergic to all other animals though, including other GSD's. It's possible that someone could be allergic to JUST gsd's and no other dogs, but I think it's pretty unlikely.

This is how my allergies worked. When I was a kid it was torture just being at a friends house with a dog or cat. I used to be a rabbit breeder, and going to rabbit shows was absolute torture for a while.

I still get reactions to new fosters until I become desensitized. Allergy shots are a form of desensitization, they expose you to the allergen in small amounts until you stop responding. Allergies are to dander, which is the combination of skin cells and saliva and not actually the hair. This is why even hairless breeds or non shedding breeds are not actually hypoallergenic (though some claim them to be)

The person that is allergic would obviously have to leave the house, I can't think of any other outcome.
