cleaning up the yard

So what does everyone use to clean up little packages in there yard? I am getting my new pup next thursday and just out picking up some needed supplies. I was thinking a garbage can with trash bags but that might get to stinky. Any ideas?

Feed a raw diet then you won't have to worry about it!

When I pick up poop (rarely) I just toss it in a plastic trash bag. It doesn't smell so I don't have to worry about the bag sitting around for the week until garbage guys come.

We reuse those plastic Walmart bags. After we’ve picked up the yard we toss the whole bag in the garbage can outside.

The poop doesn't stink on a raw diet? That's awesome, something to consider

Well...I don't think it's something you would market in a candle scent...but...I have read numerous times the odor isn't very strong. No personal experience though.

now that we cant use plastic bags for recylcling, we have plenty to use for this along with a garden trowel to pick them up! Throw the bag into the trash can outside.

We have a decent sized fenced yard, and the actual property is much larger with some waste piles in the wooded area (I won't say compost b/c then people jump on me about animal waste, we don't actually re-use the biodegraded materials from these piles). We dump the poop there (along with leaves and sticks). I use a big cat litter bucket and I drilled some holes around the bottom so if it rains, the water goes through. When it's near full, we dump it.

I just finished yard cleanup today! All the poop is gone. I couldn't believe how much I missed over the winter (I was good about cleaning it up). We had a warm spell so I wanted to clear it all out before it freezes and snows again.

I feed California Natural and my dogs poop these very dry, hard poops that turn white and crumble within days if I miss them, similar to a more natural diet (I don't feed raw but I've used elimination diets before and my dogs get those poops that dry out and are gone really fast).

My pooper scoopers are this:

Coke (All-American 7/7/06)
Nikon (GSD 9/7/08)
Indy (All-American 5/10/12)
Legend (GSD 10/22/13)
Rainbow Bridge Kenya (GSD)

I re-use plastic bags, and use a shovel. I usually just use the bags as it's so much easier to just... uh, grab it... then try to scoop it with a shovel. I then toss it/the bags into a plastic garbage bag. I feed Fromm, Sigurd poops 1x a day, so it's not that bad, but considering I didn't clean it up for months, it was really a landmine out there. I'm glad the weather is warming up. I picked most of it up on Monday.

I used to use bio degradable poop bags but found that they start decomposing before trash day. So I use a big bag to line the can and put them in that.

However, where I just moved to has a nice wooded area that I might utilize if I can find an eco friendly way that won't stink or attract flies. Flies are bad around here, so I have to pick it up out of the yard. But I don't like sending it to the land fill either.
