Bissell Pet Vacuum VS German Shedders

I love the pics SouthernThistle posted of her Grimm taking a chomp at a Bissell vaccuum. I bought one of these right after we adopted our current GSD, because I thought the ads sounded great. Well, it barely sucked up the top layer of fur that had just settled onto the surface of my rugs, and forget about what was stuck between the fibers! I just got a brand new Hoover and it is far and away better than the Bissell. Maybe I'll let Hildie have some fun with it since I don't need it anymore.

Re: Bissell Pet Vacuum VS German Shedders

just posted this on another thread, but will do so here too.
I have 3 German shedders and just bought a bissell bagless powergroom for less than $100. It works fine, and I can clean all the filters easily. I do have a floor attachment from my Kenmore that fits, so I can do the hardwood w/ it too. I am happy with this vac, for the $ it does a great job. I use many vacs in my work, and know which ones do a good job or not, this one is great for the price. I like the lightweight feature, too. It sucks in a good way!!!

This must be a different model than the one I bought two years ago. Glad it works for you!

Re: Bissell Pet Vacuum VS German Shedders

I have a kenmore bagless that sucks in a bad way. It never was good, and I paid over $300 for it. I bought the floor/hose attachments and they work with panasonic and riccar. Which I have both. This bissell is so far, so good. I am a vac guru, the only one I have never used so far is a dyson, go figure! That would probably turn me off all other brands if I tried one...

Re: Bissell Pet Vacuum VS German Shedders

the dog hair floats around my house like tumble weed.
when the heat is own you'll see it drifting by. when the air
conditioning is on you'll see it float by. when the dog shakes
you'll see it float by. when we're in the car you'll see it float by.
there's no vaccum good enough and there's not enough
time to keep it away.

i'm thinking about reclying the hair.

I think I've tried and burnt out just about every brand out there then bought a 2nd hand Dyson Animal Vac. I'll never go back to anything else

Re: Bissell Pet Vacuum VS German Shedders

I'm too cheap to buy the Dyson ... they're so expensive. *lol*

I am on my second Bissell.

I gave away our last one because the little latch thing that keeps it standing upright when not in use broke, which drove me nuts - but it was still working great, so I put it on CL for free and someone came and got it.

The one I have now is the same as onyx'girl's and that's working great for us. Of course, with two dogs and two cats, I do vacuum often. Especially since we have a chocolate brown carpet in the living room that really shows the hair. But it's been working great.

Any ideas on where the find a used / second hand Dyson?

Re: Bissell Pet Vacuum VS German Shedders

Are you talking about the Bissel handheld Pet Vacumn? That thing is trash. I bought one from Wally World because I had a dog peeing on the carpet. What a waste of money.

Luckily, they have a great return policy, and I used it!
