Scooping.....

So it is time to get another pooper scooper. I can't decide which to get.

With big dogs I think the nifty one handed model is out.

That leaves the solid shovel and pan type (which is what I had before), or the Rake and pan.

Grass is med/long usually.

I am just wondering if there is another type out there.. or what the general concensus is on which is best!? Thanks

Re: Scooping.....

The one handled type aren't strong enough, especially if the poo is frozen to the snow or ground. The rake, pan one is best, IMO...

Re: Scooping.....

I dont care for the rake. It makes the softer stolls hard to get out if the grass is a tad long. I wish I had the solid scooper that goes with the pan. I also wish I had the large pan, but didn't know they made them bigger.

Re: Scooping.....

oh ya. Actually the one I use isn't a rake. It's more like a hoe. But it's 2 pieces and I've had it for many years. It works great. I'm going to go use it right now in fact.

Re: Scooping.....

Hmmm so from the sounds of it I need two lol One rake for the nice solid ones that are in long grass and one shovel/hoe type (like I have/had) for the not so solid ones...
LOL
Thanks guys

Re: Scooping.....

I use the two type scoop where the main one is the "pan" and then the other one is the scooper. I just bought another one that was twice the size of my previous of 6 years. And the new one is purple and shiney.

Re: Scooping.....

I use a long handled dust pan. Once I get the pup to the point that it doesn't have to be scooped immediately, I will fit a grocery bag in it & it will hold about a week's worth before the bag needs to be changed.
With this I have both a rake & an old edger - I use whatever is handy although the rake works best here.
