Re: do dogs get jellous?

OH absolutely they do!! Baron was laying next to me in Jax's spot tonight and she kept eyeballing him. Finally jumped up on the couch next to DH (where dogs aren't allowed). As soon as Baron got down she came flying over jumping around like a loon.

What do you want the outcome to be? That will determine what you do. Is Magic aggressive towards the yorkies at all or does she just inch over and shove them out of the way?

Yes I think they can. I have seen Rocky try to break in for attention many times...he just has to wait his turn!

Re: do dogs get jellous?

Dogs definitely do get jealous. I think a little bit is okay just as long as they don't get aggressive or somehow else psychotic.

Watch people at the dog park when they pet other people's dogs; often their own dog will come up as if in jealousy and try to horn in on the affection and sometimes they try to place themselves between the dog and their owner. It's as if they are asking for reassurance to make sure that they are not being replaced.

Sometimes dogs will become overly jealous and become aggressive. IE food aggressive, toy aggressive or overly protective of the owner.

I don't think you necessarily have to do anything as long as magic doesn't show any signs of aggression. You might want to give him some reassurance and attention afterwords or at the same time can do it without spooking your other dogs. It sounds like he's trying to be respectful of your other dogs but yet still trying to vie for your attention.

I don't know if I would use the word jealousy. I would say it is more territorial. Moose would not be "allowed" near me if Bison had his way. According to DH it is because I am "Bison's girl".

And then the yorkies leave and Magic gets her reward....You...

So what do you want to happen? Do you want to be able to have all the dogs around you without Magic pushing them out of the way?
