Re: micro chip

I have Misty and Zeta both chiped and tattooed we also had Bart GSD for 14 years he was a run away (loved feilds ....all of them )he was chiped and he was scanned quite a few times and returned untill the local vet knew who he was when he was reported or taken in.
chips are safe
There might be some mild discomfort at the injection site but most don't even notice it. and it wont fade like some tattoos can
it's a great idea for recovering your pet if they were ever lost. i would definatly go for it

Re: micro chip

The chips are only as good as the information registered to it.
So it is very important to update as you move, change phone #'s etc.
There have been instances of chips migrating, but I think that may have to do with how it was injected.
Homeagain charges a flat fee to register, and then sends annual pleas for renewal, which isn't necessary. When you pay the initial fee, it covers the dog for life in the database. The annual renewal if for extra coverage only, some people don't know this and pay the annual.
I recommend chipping and many pet stores/rescues or shelters will have clinics sponsored by the company, charging much less than a vetrinarian.

Re: micro chip

All our dogs are microchipped, and we also chip all puppies we breed before sending them home.

As was mentioned though, a chip is only good if the information is registered and kept up to date. It's also a good idea to do some research into the different types of chips and chip registries to make an informed decision of which one is best for your situation.

The object of life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting HOLY S%*T what a ride!
