Tell us how awesome your Vets are!

I just wanted to brag a little on my Vet's office. They are amazing.

We found them by accident, and we didn't even know they were all of 2 miles from our house. The entire staff is friendly and knowledgeable: Vet Techs, Veterinarians, everyone. This is rather hard to find sometimes.

We first met Dr. King who is just a great Veterinarian. She is incredibly caring and thoughtful. We then met Dr. Weaver who helped diagnose Grimmie's dermatitis (allergy to a bug bite.)

Not only is their facility super clean and welcoming, but their prices are incredibly reasonable. They also stay up-to-date on advances in Veterinary Medicine. They are open 7...yes...7 days a week!

Whether you're a fan of Cesar or not, we just found out that an episode of "The Dog Whisperer" was filmed at Animal Hospital of Towne Lake as the Vet's office also acts as an animal adoption center for "Don's Orphans." Dr. Weaver writes Cesar Milan's "Ask the Vet" section as well.

For the price of boarding two large dogs at your typical concrete run boarding facility, your pets can be boarded at Bed & A Biscuit. Grimmies and Gidget can't WAIT to go there because they get their own room, a t.v., XM radio, beds, and more

We just LOVE our Vets! So brag a little bit about yours

Re: Tell us how awesome your Vets are!

I'm with you in that I just love our Vets. I switched last year and it was one of the best moves of my life. When Shoshi bloated they were right there and were textbook perfect in their response. With Eli recently they took no chances and ran every test in the book as they knew I wanted.

Their office is just blocks from our house as well. The staff are all friendly and caring. They care not only about the pets but the people as well and it really shows.

They actually took the time to learn the correct way to pronounce Shoshona's name (the other place, no matter who it was, always mutilated her name). And they always make follow up calls to see how the pet is doing.

I'm very thankful to have them.

Re: Tell us how awesome your Vets are!

I also changed vets last year and am so happy that I did. Even though it's some distance to drive, it's worth every mile. My Riley was recently diagnosed with Cauda Equina Syndrome. The vet found it while checking for HD that I was told that Riley had by the other vet. Riley does not have HD. Dr. Tim Loonam is his name and he spent about two years in Iraq as the vet for the working dogs. They also treat my allergy dog and have been just the best in helping me find the right maintenance dose of allegy serum. They also have great vet techs that have spent time with me educating me on giving shots to Dickens and answering any questions I have when I call. Take a look at their website. http://www.gracepets.com

I love our vet's office. It's large--five vets and a few specialists. All the vets are good...you have some that have 30 or more years experience and some that just graduated vet school within the last few years.

They have a lot of new methods and state of the art technology available for a reasonable price. And they were super nice when Maggie passed away, sending cards weeks after. And Duncan is a big pimp up there, all the tech's love him. Just a well grounded group of people!

Yeah, I love my vet. I would adopt him. He gave me his home and cell to ring even if he isn't on call. Let's me use the office grooming room for my dogs. Has diagnosed problems many others have failed to get right. Has charged only a few hundred for major surgeries.

He's been a most supportive friend when a beloved animal has to meet the end of life. Always clears the office schedule for hours to spend the time with us.

He has taken or helped place strays. He does surgery for free on animals injured and brought in by law enforcement and then works to home them. He has animals in the office who others gave up on near the end of life and with major illness and enjoys treating them to a few more years of quality life.

He is simply a super person and a very good diagnostician. I don't know what we would do without him.

Re: Tell us how awesome your Vets are!

My oldest dog had cancer and started having seizures and other ailments. After taking her to the vet for pain meds and fluids, she was getting no better. I went there on a Wednesday (my vet's day off) and the other two vets were working. They both said that my dog was basically dying and I needed to make the humane decision to euthanize her. I told them that I had made arrangements with my vet and that he was going to do it at my house. They called him and he wasn't home. They also knew that he had an appointment that day and weren't sure if they would be able to get a hold of him or not. I told them I was leaving with my dog and that we would wait. They advised me that it was a bad decision, but I stood firm. Right after that, my vet walked into the office. I think a higher power sent him there- there was no other reason that he was coming there and there was no message left for him. On his day off, he followed me home (45 minutes one way) and let me take all the time I needed with my dog. Although it was the worst day of my life, I was so thankful that he was there.

Re: Tell us how awesome your Vets are!

My vet has a terrible bedside manner. When we brought Cassidy in for her puppy checkup he told us we should send her back. He never minces words, you'll always know exactly what he thinks. He's expensive, because he believes in lots of tests to rule out all the possibilities before coming to a diagnosis. He's always backed up, and sometimes we wait forever, one time I was there for an hour and 45 minutes, and most of that time I was waiting, either in the waiting room or in a room. He's usually stressed out, and often ill tempered and short with his staff, and sometimes not all that civil with the clients either.

And we've been going there since 1986. Why? Because he's an amazing vet. Because he cares SO much. Because he's so knowledgeable. Because he works so hard. The staff puts up with unbelievable because they feel honored to be able to work with him. Because he's a a great person and a lot of fun outside the stress of work. Because he knows I am in tune with my dogs and he always takes me seriously, even if the symptoms seem fairly minor. Because he's given us his home and cell number to call anytime, (and he really does mean ANY time), because twice during Dena's illness he drove 45 minutes from home on his day off, after hours, to meet us at the hospital to treat her. I don't know what we'll do when he retires.....

Re: Tell us how awesome your Vets are!

We went into our jewelers the other day (a really awesome husband/wife team that brings their adopted Aussie Shepherd/Aussie Cattle Dog, Selda, into the store with them ), and she told us a story about our Vets:

"My sister lives in another town and made the [awful] mistake of buying her poodle puppy from a BYB'er. She took the puppy to the vet because there was a bulge in its side. Her Vet said, 'it's a fatty deposit. The dog will be fine.' I thought that was odd, and I took the same puppy to my Vet ("Towne Lake"). Dr. Weaver looked at it, pushed on it, and POP! it went back into the dog's side. She said, 'it's a uterine hernia...NOT a fatty deposit.' I told my sister, and she immediately changed Vets...and got the dog into surgery the next morning."

Re: Tell us how awesome your Vets are!

in looking for a vet who does PennHip evaluations i found a wonderful vet.((Dr. Morris, Granger, IN). i have never had a vet spend so much time with me going over the process, the x-rays, and so thoroughly evaluating my dog. once he had the results, he called me and spent a long time on the phone with me. ive never had a vet so patient and so interested in making sure i knew everything i wanted to know.

Re: Tell us how awesome your Vets are!

I love my vet because I've been in a couple of times with something minor (not sure what a little bump on my dog was, etc) and he would look at it, tell me it was nothing (or how to fix it) and then tell me to get out of his office before he has to charge us! I also like that he is a mile away.
