Terrified of trucks

Recently a neighbor of mine has been getting construction work done on his house and so there have been trucks and vans passing by the house almost constantly. My 7 year old Border Collie has become absolutely terrified of anything bigger then a car. It is not the sight of the trucks it is the sound. Today she ran away from me in the park and I caught her 15 minutes later in the middle of a main road with busy traffic. She has always been a bit nervous when trucks pass by us out on the street but now she is terrified. She has always been ball crazy and would do anything to play with the ball. She ignores other dogs and people when the ball is around and usually isn't bothered by the sound of the traffic, however today she was playing with the ball when she bolted. I am afraid to take my 1 year old Sheltie out with her now in case he picks up on the behavior however she will not go out without him. Should I refrain from taking him with her?

I have spent so long trying to get her comfortable around strangers and it had been going so well but now I am afraid we are back to square one. Any suggestions on what I could do? I refuse to give up on her, she is very close to my heart.

I wont be letting her of again however at the time I had no idea she would bolt as she has never done that before even when she was spooked.

She needs more socialisation.

With regards to the truck and loud noises, try putting her on leash and place her near a car while the car is started with the engine being revved and the horns blaring. You can encourage her to come near the car by rewarding her with treats or toys as she gets closer and give lots of praise as she gets nearer. After a while, they will realise loud noises aren't worth being afraid of.

My younger golden does not like garbage trucks. I work at a garbage company and he has been around them since he was little and he has never liked them. I have walked him at the same time the garbage man was coming and had him give the dog treats, he was calm during this time but once that truck started moving so did my dog, right towards the house.
