This plea was cross-psoted to me.I called this shelter a couple hrs ago and this poor shep is still there and no interest. I was told only a call from someone saying they would network for him..I am so concerned this boy is not going to make it out alive as he can now be euthanized at any time!!

there is something so sad about the old dogs who are owner turn ins. They are hopeless really. Who would adopt the older dog when they can get one so much younger? It takes a special person with a big heart to take an older dog and give them love in their last years. This boy is in severe danger and his time is now up. He is at North Central Shelter. Please cross post far and wide. Maybe together we can find a way to get him the love he deserves. There is no doubt he will give that love right back.

The fear in this 10 year old dog's eyes was heartbreaking, particularly when I read the shelter card: "surrendered by owner". The tuffs of hair and skinny body told of a lifetime of neglect-- a sad life, a sad ending dying in a shelter shaking with fear.
When Krista and I entered his cage, he was so scared his back legs were shaking so bad I wondered if he would be able to still stand. His huge soulful hazel eyeswere so intelligent and beautiful, but so sad. I had to close the interior kennel door so that he would not go and hide in the dark where I could not get to him.
We tried to reassure him. [And despite the terror that this dog was in, he was always gentle and passive]. After a bit I put the leash on him and we took him to the enclosed area at North Central--he was still scared, but he followed me everywhere, even after I took him off the leash. You can tell that this dog wants nothing more than to bond with someone he loves--but he probably wont be given the chance---no time, older, no hope---can anyone help this dog. ** This gentle sweet dog would not do well in long term boarding. He needs a rescuer who will be able to place in foster fairly soon. He is redlisted and can be killed at any time.
