Switching from Wellness to Orijen LBP

Wellness had 366 calories per cup, Orijen has like 460. Should I feed less, or exercise more to maintain weight with this new food?

That's a big difference - I'd definitely feed less. If he's currently a good weight for his size, (not overly skinny or chubby), figure out how many calories he's getting now by multiplying the number of cups he eats daily by the Kcals per cup of the old food. Then divide that number by the Kcals per cup of the new food to determine how much will give him the same amount of calories.

Re: Switching from Wellness to Orijen LBP

So, if he ate 4 cups before, he should be getting about 3 now, right

Yes. That would be a good place to start. Then you will jsut have to watch his weight and adjust the amount if needed.

Re: Switching from Wellness to Orijen LBP

are you talking about the wellnes core reduced fat? the core ocean and regular are both around 430 cals/cup while the orijen is at 483.

for whatever reason, i am able to feed kimba identical amounts of the orijen as i do the core regular and her weight stays perfectly stable.

***never mind, i see you were feeding the regular wellness

Axxel, Let me know how he does on it. Riley is doing great on it (coat, energy, stool, etc.) but she stopped touching it at the end of the bag. Picking up my second bag today...

I'm done catering to his every hunger strike lol, if he turns his nose up at this after a while tough lol.

But, he goes nuts over it...I'm even using it for training now because he likes it so much.

I have been adding hot water to the kibble and letting it sit for a few minutes to absorb it. They all eat it right up because the heat makes it smell better to them.

My pups eat Wellness LBP and I also mix in a little Old Mother Hubbard Kitchen Creations wet food. THey love it!
