The father is sable, not black. Sable puppies can look pretty dark when they are first born, but go through a few color changes (light, dark, light, dark, etc) during their first year as their puppy coat grows out and their final adult coat comes in. That is completely normal for a sable, and is not caused by diet.
The two puppies in the picture do look solid black, so they are not going to change color. Some solid blacks get a bit of brown on their legs as they mature; that is called bleed-through, but it is a factor of genetics, and not diet.
