Nutritional guidelines?

Does anyone have information on the calorie and nutritional needs for an 8wk old puppy? I'm looking into homemade food, but can't seem to find the nutritional requirements/ macro percentages/ necessary vitamins and minerals and all that. Help?

The guidelines you're looking for are from the NRC. I think the full set is behind a paywall.

I don't think I'd homecook for a large-breed pup without expert guidance. It's far too easy to screw up their growth and skeletal structure.

If you really are determined, you might think about doing a consultation with Monica Segel. She has a book about home-cooking called The K9 Kitchen. She develops custom recipes that satisfy NRC guidelines.

You can also get vet-nutritionist formulated recipes through a service affiliated with the UC Davis vet school called Balance It (http://www.balanceit.com), but they won't do it for large-breed pups the last I checked.
