Question Calcium Pills?

Hello again, I got my puppy yesterday and today the lady that brought him to me (the police academy bred him and this lady was the caretaker) text me today and told me to give him half of an 800mg calcium tablet every other day. I'm not a huge fan of supplements so I figured I'd ask the experts on here, Does he really need calcium tablets or can I just give him a little cottage cheese in his breakfast? This lady said not to do that and that only calcium tablets will help his ears stand without hurting his joints... but my head is pretty thick and I'd like a second opinion.. or 8 lol. Thank you.

Extra calcium is about the worst thing you could give a growing large breed puppy.

Do not add Calcium - there should be all he needs in his food. A bit of cottage cheese should do no harm, if he can tolerate it - it might give him the runs.

Give him lots of chew toys and knuckle bones - the exercise of chewing should help his ears, but there is no need to worry about his ears at this age - give them time to come up on their own. Plus, when he starts teething, his ears may be up and down, so don't worry.

And that's what I thought, that they needed less rather than more. At just under 8 weeks old do you think that lady has done any damage to his growth already?

I'm sure he'll be fine. Just don't keep giving them.
