Question New puppy Feeding advice

Have been on this site for a few weeks now, joined while waiting for my new puppy. My first post was wether to get one or two GSD pups (we couldnt decide, lol) Anyway we plumped for just the one, Got him two days ago and have named him Sabre.

As stated in previous post, I am new to the breed of GSD but my partner grew up with them, trained them and over his time his family had three of them. Problem is we are both a bit stumped regarding feeding, 20yrs ago my partners GSD's were dry food fed, Once a month a trip down to the local pet store and he bought a huge sack of (what he can remember) "oats, Flakes, dried chicken, meat, carrots," etc, etc and that was what the dogs were fed along with treats and other things which again after 20yrs cant remember what!! lol.

My question is really that our last dog who was a Red Setter Cross (a real heinz 57) from our local dog shelter and was really just fed on canned food, Pedigree chum, Tesco's Own, etc, etc and once or twice a week he got a Bone or two from the butchers.

I been reading a lot of the forums trying to find out the best way to feed our new GSD. I have looked at the RAW diet but to be honest i dont seem keen on it plus i couldnt handle all raw food without throwing up, lol Plus it seems like it might be kind of costly and although we are ok we arent loaded!! lol

So, drivvled on a bit but like i say, I am new to the GSD and my partners memory aint what it used to be (old age! lol) but we want to get the best we can for our new boy!

Will post pics by the way soon as we got some done of him.

I've been feeding my girl Blue Buffalo, Large breed puppy formula, and she has done really well on it. Every 3rd night I substitute a cup of kibble for a cup of raw hamburg, and a raw egg. I use good quality lean hamburg and mix up the type.

Of course her night meal is also adjusted accordingly if she got training treats through the day.

You'll get as many different answers as you do posters on the subject. This is just what's working for us.
