So I've decided to switch to raw

I have been feeding my 13wk old puppy Nature's Variety: Instinct but have decided to switch to an all raw diet after hearing so many good things.

There is a local store near me which offers "Nature's Variety: Raw" and suggest that I feed 6-8 pieces/day. Is this a good food to use? Or should I be buying things from the supermarket and preparing them myself. I do want to put her on a good raw diet, but basically I'm not sure if its a good idea to use Nature's Variety or just buy my own raw stuff if that makes sense.

Also, can anyone suggest other good natural foods to include in her diet? I'm very new at this so any pointers would be appreciated!

Thank you

I have not yet switched to raw yet, but the reason I am going to eventually do raw is control. Commercial pet food is not regulated, so the quality/source is vertually unknown. Right now I make my own cooked dog food using what I can puchase in the supermarket. I admit that human food has been known to be unsafe, but at least it is regulated. There is a thread on raw on this forum.

It's much cheaper and IMO easier to prepare the meals myself from store bought meat.

I agree. Additionally, if I'm not mistaken, Nature's Variety just had a big recall on a lot of their products. Less risk of that using meat intended for human consumption.
