Puppy is FINALLY eating!

I've had Carly for about six weeks now (she is 16 weeks old), and she has never been interested in food.

She is THIN. You can count her ribs. It's been frustrating. I swear the Italian Greyhounds eat more than the puppy does!

So, I bought a can of Tripett (nasty smelly tripe) last week to add to my Italian Greyhounds' food. I mixed a tablespoon of the Tripett and some hot water to Carly's kibble (Orijen LBP) and she INHALED it.

I thought it was a fluke, so tried it again at her next meal, giving her even more kibble with the tablespoon of the smelly tripe, and she sucked that down too. Licked the bowl clean.

In the past I put a tablespoon of the IGs canned Merrick in with her kibble, but it never made a difference. She still wouldn't eat more than a few bites.

She has now eaten for 5 days straight, cleaning her bowl every time. In fact, she RACES to her crate when it's time to eat. LOL, it's a miracle!

If they ever stop making this stuff, I'm in trouble...

Ok, what is Trippette and where can I find? Its not a cat food, is it? I gotta do something to get my boy eating more. He isn't really interested in food either, and its really fustrating.

Tripett

pretty much tripe in a can. there are not alot of retailers who sell this, so many folks have to order it.

Nice!! Thanks so much Roxy. Appreciate it.

Dogfaeries: Which one did you get? There are four flavors, so I'm just curious which one worked for you.

Thanks!!

I bought the original one. In a green can. I'm lucky that there is a fabulous dog food store near me that carries it.

That is so funny! Tripe in a can! I hate cooking the stuff. Maybe if I buy it canned, my husband won't notice the difference.

Solid Gold has a canned tripe and Merrick also has a can with tripe in it (Working Dog Stew, I think)

I must be getting immune to the smell, because I no longer gag when I mix up the dogs food. I'm telling you, tripe is STINKY!

Carly is still eating, so far so good...

Yep, this is how my dog is too. She'll only eat really if there is something mixed w/ her food.. I've been over it and over it.. offered, taken away.. all that stuff. I figure, if I can add a few tsp of canned in her food, then WHY not? It's not hurting her, in fact, it's helping cause she's EATING! I get to enjoy my food, why not her?

So, I put a couple scoops of canned in and she eats... I'm fine w/ it.. she's fine w/ it... lets see how Murphy does when he gets here Gonna be buying canned by the case!
