feeding twice a day....

i've been feeding 3x's a day(6 am, noonish and 6pm) since we got Dresden, but now because of work and not having kids home from school to help, I'm thinking of taking his food and splitting it into two feedings instead. Does anyone think there is a problem with this? He's 15 weeks old.

Re: feeding twice a day....

If at all possible I would continue the 3 feedings for another month or 2.

No, it shouldn't be a problem. There are MANY folks that feed puppies 2 meals a day from 8 weeks on because they can't feed an afternoon meal due to work.

Just be aware that depending on how much you give per meal, it could cause loose "pudding" poops at least until he gets used to eating more at a time.

well he could get a "noon " meal, but not until 2 or 3, then I would need to wait until 8-9 to feed again, and I think that's too late.....

Re: feeding twice a day....

My husband and I started feeding Isis 2x's a day around 13 or 14 weeks. This works better with our family schedule. We feed her at 7am and 6:30pm everyday. and we haven't had a problem with her at all. She gets her total for the day split into 2 meals instead of three meals. We had an appointment at the vet about 2 weeks ago and the vet was fine with her eating twice a day at those times. She's now 17weeks.

Re: feeding twice a day....

I've always feed my dog twice a day from 8 weeks. She eats at 6:30-7:00AM and at 6:00PM.
