Kong toy as a tug... how-to?

Zage and I are (always) working on our tug skills, and engagement/rewarding with tug along with treats. It's getting there, and she's pretty into her firehose tug, but I like having multiple options. She does love to play with her kongs, and we have a nice retrieve with them, too.

What I'm wondering is, does anyone here have suggestions for adapting a kong into a tug? Ideally with a leather handle, or something nice to grip, at least. I'm cool with something DIY, I just need the instructions! I feel like I'd read a discussion on this a few years ago, but cannot find the thread back. The all-knowing google hasn't been particularly helpful this time around either. (I know it can be done... I see people using kongs for tug rewards in videos often enough.)

Thank you in advance!

If you can get the right width of marine rope and know how to tie a good knot (Im picturing a monkey fist) that would work. Have you ever tried Gappay Balls? They have a kong like feel and come with a rope through them. When the rope breaks just restring it with same thickness of rope which is easy to find in Home Dept etc.

The other advice about stuff on a string..be prepared for more accident knuckle bites lol I find I can grab a long tug and because it is a defined object it is easier for him to keep track even when excited. But the slack nature of the string has him going THROUGH the reward which is great!!!! Unless your fisted hand or other even more important body bits are in the immediate backdrop.
