Litter Growth

I’ve been tracking the weights of my new litter, and I’ve seen a lot of different opinions on what’s bad/slow/okay/fast/too much etc.

Was hoping someone with some real hand on experience can point me to a reliable by if information on it.

The most important thing is to keep track of each pup's individual weight. You want to see an upward trend in the weights. If one pup is gaining too slowly compared to its littermates, make sure it gets more time on the nipple. Many breeders rotate the pups, so smaller, weaker pups get a better chance to fill their bellies without being pushed off the nipple by the stronger ones.

I don't know of any hard and fast criteria that say a pup should gain x amount of weight per day. Just make sure it IS gaining!
Sabis mom and bromonk like this.

That was the conclusion I was coming too after everything I was reading. Seems like everyone had their own standard they try to follow.
