Cryptorchid sometimes

Cam's (6 month old Rough Collie) one testicle is mostly down but today I discovered while he was lying on his back that, while they both were down, I could easily pop it back into a cavity right under the skin and pull it back again. How do I need to go about that? I want him to be intact. Not for breeding purposes because I think he already is showing a potential genetic issue with this.
Do you think this cavity will close or does it need to be closed by the vet?

My gut reaction is for you to quit pushing it back up. Talk to your vet about this especially if no one more knowledgable than I weighs in.

He sees the vet tomorrow for the dreaded Rabies vaccine.
