Just wondering (puppy size question)

Just a quick question y'all can hopefully help me with. I am a first time gsd owner and my little man just turned 7 months. Every growth chart I see says he should be around 60 pounds but he barely weighs 45..I feed home blue buffalo wilderness (2 1/2 cups morning and night. Is his weight normal for his age?? The vet said he's healthy I just wanted a fellow gsd owners opinion

The GSD standard allows for quite some variation in size. You may just have a small puppy that is on the lower end of the standard. What you feed should be enough - if your pup is healthy, active, happy, and eats well, then I wouldn't worry about his size.

He may still put on 10 to 20 lbs as he matures, so that would bring him to 65 lbs which is a normal size on the lower end of the spectrum. I know some pure-bred females that are barely 50 lbs - so though small, nothing abnormal about your pup.

Another great idea is to contact your breeder and get their feedback. Are the littermates the same size and how about the parent dogs.

Nice and calming to hear 'normal' from the breeder.
