I took Kaiser to the dog park and had quite an enlightening moment during our trip. A BC rescue was there having a "reunion" party, so they were mostly on the "swim" side of the park. I was in the general area with Kaiser. Well, the BC rescue was using a frisbee and once Kaiser caught a glimpse of it, all best were off. You see, Kaiser has a bit of a frisbee fetish. Or obsession. I think obsession is the better word for it. He ran over to the fence to watch the BCs play fetch (not very well, might I add, lol). Kaiser wasn't whining or barking which was odd. Looking back, I suppose he was trying to think through how to get to the frisbee. All of a sudden, he stood up on his back legs and put his paws on the top of the chain link fence that separated the two sections. Then, with what seemed like no effort at all, he pushed off the ground, catapulted off the fence with his hind legs, and jumped down onto the other side of the fence. Acting like he'd done that all his life, he trotted into the mix of BCs and happily waited for one of the people to throw his beloved frisbee. I was in shock.
You see, I live in an apartment and the only fences that Kaiser has seen are those at dog parks. Generally, he ignores the fences because what he wanted was always on the same side as he. I'm not sure WHERE he realized or learned he could jump OVER one.
Note to self: If and WHEN I ever move into a house and decide to fence my yard, the fence will automatically be upgraded to a privacy style fence, much higher than 6 feet, lmao!
Here is my less than accurate depiction of the event (I gave up trying to draw the fenceline, and it took me so long to do Kaiser...and it doesn't even LOOK like Kaiser...that I decided no way in heck I was going to draw 5 border collies, lol):
