Coming into heat question

I have an appointment in 3 days to get my pup spayed. However, I just noticed some pink discharge on her blanket. How can I tell if this is a false heat or the real deal? Can a vet spay a dog just starting into her heat cycle?

If the bleeding increases and continues, she is probably in heat. Personally, no, I would not spay when she is coming into heat, I would wait about 3 months, until she is more in the middle of her cycle. However the vet can spay her in heat, they might charge more, and it has more risk involved.

My vet will do surgery 17 days after the start of cycle. Guess this will be an interesting two weeks of keeping her safe.
