Question Another Shots and Socialization Thread

I'm really excited to get my puppy and I will be in about 4 weeks. I want to take him everywhere and do everything with him... my biggest fear is Parvo...

Unfortunately its absolutely rampant in my town and I don't know how to socialize my puppy safely. Any tips/hints would be really appreciated.

You can carry the puppy anywhere and get just about the same amount of socialization for the pup, without risk to parvo. Just let him potty before you leave the house, carry him through stores or parks, and then let him go again when you get home.

When would you suggest allowing him to interact with other unknown dogs? After the 3rd set of vaccines?

I just know the vet told me its absolutely rampant in this town and that would be the last thing I would want to happen to my puppy.

Yes, I wouldn't compromise the risk until the shots are done. At two sets you don't know that the pup's on it's own immune system and that the shot took. So three is best if you know there parvo in your town.

You do have to be very mindful especially if your in a high risk area. Trust me you will have plenty of time to socialize with your puppy in public...take your time & focus on building a strong bond with the two of you first!

Kaos and I went to Home Depot a LOT the first few weeks I had her, she rode in the cart

We also sat on the bench outside the local grocery store and library
