color development

not sure if this a stupid question....Tyson is a black and tan but his legs seem to be gradually becoming more reddish, is it possible as he ages that he will become more red. His chest is tan, and he's still almost all black, some silver lines coming up his withers more and more each day. Although his legs seem to be turning more red or maybe just a darker tan, does this happen if both of his parents were black and tans?

Re: color development

he's 5 months -- he's going to change quite a bit. my black and red male continued to change until he was a year and a half. a photo can help us determine what he's likely to look like upon maturity. the color and pattern of his parents will give you a pretty good idea as well.

Re: color development

I wonder about this myself. My pup is still mainly black. I met a GSD pup, who is about 6 weeks younger than her, a few days ago, and that puppy is much, much lighter than Lex. The owner said she was nearly all black as a puppy. Did you see your puppies parents?

Re: color development

iam guessing your puppy will become a red and blk sadde back ,my boy Dukes dad was a red and tan saddle and his mother was adark blk sable and Duke is a black and tan (real dark) bi-color ,i think it all depends on the dogs envolved in the blood lines? post a pic that would help a little more .
