Urinating when excited.

How do I change this behavior? She is very social, we go to the dog park, but when she meets someone new she is so excited to meet them she tinkles. It is not a shy get away from me tinkle, she is confident and wants to meet a new friend. If I can perfect the heeling excercise and take care of the tinkling, we can compete for a CD title. She is 10 and 1/2 months. Thanks

Re: Urinating when excited.

Jerzey used to have this problem and just grew out of it. Also, prevent your guests from getting too excited when they meet her and do not even allow them to meet her (no petting, no eye contact) until your dog calms down.

Re: Urinating when excited.

Marshall used to do this too...he has almost completely grown out of it.

Like Jerzey said...just tell people (when you can notify them) to ignore her for a minute (no high pitched voices or petting right away) and she'll probably grow out of it too.

Re: Urinating when excited.

My previous Shepherd Kizzie used to do that. Only when she met men though. She totally grew out of it by around 4.

Re: Urinating when excited.

My girl Durga used to do this especially around men. Once I started making walks and training exercises part of the daily routine, she stopped doing it for the most part. She will still do it once in a while if people come up and talk in shrill high voices or do to much oooohing and ahhhhing and reach out to pet her before she gets used to them.
