Log in timed out

When writing a post my login times out and i need to re log in.

This is pretty annoying and must happen to others and then they don't bother re posting.

Why does this happen?

Can i change it

It's visible before you login next to the user name/password, it's a check box.

Ok I see the remember me now.

I don't want to be signed in all the time. Just when i post.

Basically i sign in. go to post reply. write message. sometimes delay a bit. go post. and then see i'm signed out, or 'timed out'.

A web site forum should not be signing people out but trying to keep people signed in or so i would have thought.

Maybe there is some reason for it.

If you log out each time you leave the board, you won't be signed in all the time. Just hit the "remember me" button when you sign in and then log out when you're done.

I actually keep myself logged in all the time on my home computer so that when I come to the board it recognizes me immediately. That doesn't mean I'm HERE all the time, only when my computer is turned on, I'm online, and I've come to the site. On other computers I log in and log off each time I visit the board, but I've never been accidentally logged off while posting because I check that box.

Could be how you have your browser's security settings (trusted sites, what cookies it saves and for how long, etc). I've never been logged out typing a long post or coming back to a post I started earlier.
