After you wash your cell phone.....

How long does it need to dry out before you know for certain if it is totally shot or not?

Yeah ummm Sunday was NOT a good day. There was still water in it last night but it LOOKS dry today.

It is not looking good. But the GOOD news I didn't pay much for it 6 months ago.

BTW keys with remote keyless entry come out of a full wash cycle better than a tracfone out of a partial wash cycle (so far).

Re: After you wash your cell phone.....

I'm notorious for dropping mine in water, as is my daughter... I learned the fastest way is to take a hair dryer to it, after taking the battery out.. I did that almost 2 years ago with a Razr I dropped in a sink of water, that phone is STILL working perfectly, even after having been dropped by my daughter 2 months ago in a puddle of water! Then let it set for a day or two... I had another motorola years ago, before trying the dryer, it took about a week to work again... I sold it on ebay, lol, as a non working phone, the day before the phone sold, I turned it on and it worked perfectly.

My boss lost his at the bottom of a lake. Somehow retrieved it and it would still turn on. Never worked right after that though.

A thumb drive dries out and works fine afterwards though!!

LOL I've done this before, I was lucky, took it apart asap and let it dry for 3 days. It worked after that, I was impressed; but, it was an older Nokia, not sure how sturdy the fancy new phones are.

My daughter dropped hers in a toilet

She did not retrieve it...so I'm not sure if it would work again or not.

Re: After you wash your cell phone.....

After two days mine worked after being dropped in the pool... oaky it was in my pocket and I was dropped in the pool... anyway, it did work again so there’s hope!

I've discovered that submersion in milk is impossible to come back from. At that point I had insurance on my phone (it was a bad month- Rugen at 3 months old had just chewed one up). The insurance company was wonderful to work with and replaced it after chuckling at my honesty. I’m without insurance now that the pup is older and I steer clear of the milk.

Re: After you wash your cell phone.....

We had an old Nokia go through the washer and after three days it rose again. Worked fine until we re-upped and got a new one. I dropped a newer phone in the ocean, no dice on that one. I would be less than optomistic but it's worth a try, it just needs to dry out.

Re: After you wash your cell phone.....

My DH dropped his in the toilet and it never worked again
If you take the Battery out and let it totally dry for a few days maybe and hopefully it will work

Re: After you wash your cell phone.....

Do you have electronic drying spray?

My cells seldom last past a few months, a few years ago I upset a fishbowl full of water and plants (those planter ones everybody had a few years ago) and dh was able to save the phone, remote and something else by using it.
