Hit

Ozzy passed his HIT today. He did very well after the instructor realized he’s a lefty. Most dogs go right but not my boy. Loved to see his instinct come out.

Congratulations! What do they need to do to pass the HIT? Any prior obedience training needed? I may be interested in eventually getting into herding titles.

Congratulations!!! It is very different and fun. It truly works their brains. After Max passed his HIT and was told by the instructor and the people watching that he could of passed his herding title that day- I decided to take lessons myself to learn. If your sheep instructor is local it makes it easy to take lessons. It was challenging at first to get Max to listen to me under that kind of heavy distraction off leash in deep work mode - which was my major goal. I was a very awkward sheep herder. I found when I took lessons I was the one that had to learn a lot and became a little better over time and made it to the big field. When getting Luna I would bring her down as a pup - 16 weeks to young for testing but wanted to see what the instructor thought for fun. The instructor loved her as she worked hard in gathering sheep up at 16 weeks. Such a great learning and bonding experience for people and their dogs.
