Re: To those that do their own vacc./deworm/heartgaurd
This is from our club website.....
"I choose to use a limited vaccine protocol. The first vaccination is parvovirus only, at somewhere around 8 weeks. Then every 4 weeks up until 20 weeks, I use the distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus and parainfluenza combo shot. Rabies is given between the 3rd and 4th vaccination. Deworming is done at 2, 4, 6, 8 weeks and as needed after that. If your pup has loose stools, take a fresh sample into the vet and have them check it. At 1 year and 4 months, I get my dogs a 3 year rabies vaccination. This is legal in most states. Ask your vet. After the initial puppy vaccinations, I have not been giving any boosters other than rabies every 3 years. There are titer tests that can be done. New veterinary studies have shown that immunity lasts for at least 5-7 years from a distemper/parvovirus shot. Vaccinations are a medical procedure and DO have side effects and possible complications. Once again, be your pet's advocate. I guarantee you, no one else will. Research, research, research and talk to your vet. If your vet is not open to a dialogue, find a new vet."
I buy from jefferspet.com (vax and dewormers), totalpetsupply.com (frontline, advantage, and hw pills if not using liquid ivermectin), calvetsupply.com (meds and bandage material). Rabies shots come from the vet.
