short term numbing spray?

Is there such a thing I can use on Traveler?

Our problem is that when we go for walks, he frequently gets those little round hard sand spurs stuck in his paws. We live in South Florida and they are everywhere! I'm calling them sand spurs and that may not be the correct designation but anyone living in the South is probably familiar with what I'm describing.

Traveler used to just grumble a little when I'd pull them out but now that he's old, he has taken to blowing his mind when I'm removing them so I thought if I could just spray a temporary numbing something it would solve our problem.

Any thoughts?

What about disposal rubber booties? They are very light weight.

These are the ones I keep on hand:

Wow, thanks moms! Never heard of them. That should work assuming the pickers can't penetrate.

Worth a shot for sure!

Then there are these. sock that is dipped in rubber compound covers top and bottom...don't know if would make more breathable?

If you put your curser over the pic of socks, you can enlarge it and move it around to examine closer. very cool

Thank you, GatorBytes. I'll take a look at those to. I reviewed the ones Moms suggested and they may work for the pickers but Traveler doesn't travel in a straight line so we are on grass, off grass, on grass, etc. etc. so not sure if they will hold up. I could keep him more contained but my little miracle boy will be 11 this Saturday and pretty much gets to pick his playgrounds.
