I would recomend grooming (brushing) at least once a week (I brush mine daily including the teeth ) and bathing only when necessary.

I groom my girl weekly - rubber currycomb, shedding rake, greyhound comb, and soft body brush. A shedding blade or furminator type thing on her britches only, if needed. Her ears seem to get really dirty, and I clean them sometimes several times a week . I trim a tiny bit off her nails every couple weeks, and am getting her used to the dremmel. During the time she was in heat, wow! I could have brushed daily and got out a ton of hair! I have only bathed her after I took her swimming in the ocean. This seems to work for us.
