Hello friends!!! Today i came across a yucky tick in my pups fur! See i took her to the vet today and she started her first dose of the tick medicine, and what are the odds that THAT NIGHT a tick latches onto her? Now my question for you guys is, how long is the medicine going to take to kick this tick off of her?! I mean, she was just given it with her dinner about an hour or two before i found it. Do i yank the little $!&* off of her or will the medicine?! Thanks friends!

I would always prefer to remove the tick before it has engorged regardless of when the medicine will kick in... Tick twister or the tick card are great for easy removal...

Yea, I would definitely removed it. The longer embedded the higher the risk. I love Tick twisters... I hate ticks!!!

I use the Frontline type drops and it takes awhile to work it's way through the fur and over the body. Even with the drops I check every night while grooming. Even though the drops are waterproof I don't do water play with my dogs the day before or the day after. Occasionally I'll find a tick near the end of the month. More often I'll find them on me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure about the internal medications.

Ew, I agree. Ticks need to be removed.

I took our 13 year old Golden off of Trifexis and put a Seresto collar on him. So far, I LOVE it. I live in South Alabama. Flea Country! The other three are on Trifexis. Towards the end of the month, they start scratching. The old Gold is as comfy as can be and has been for the 3 months I have had that collar on him. Supposedly, the collar kills ticks, too. Does anyone have experience with the collar and its effectiveness at warding off ticks and fleas? I am thinking about taking my GSD off the Trifexis (she has had 3 observed seizures in 12 month period) but hesitate because she is so allergic to any flea bites. Frontline is ineffective here.

Love Mercy
