I would give the cat lots of space to get away if needed, we have a bedroom upstairs with a babygate across where the cat food and water is and also the basement is blocked off from the dogs so the cats can go down there as well. Cats normally only attack when they're feeling threatened so giving them safe areas helps, normally it's the dog that's the issue not the cat though of course there always are exceptions
It may be days or it may be months before you can fully trust them together, it really depends on the animals. If Ben is too interested and likes to chase the cat then keep him on a leash and work on a "leave it" command so he knows that chasing the cat is wrong.
