The Dog That Got Caught In
the Welland Canal Submitted
by Shannon Holland
Our dog Freddie jumped our 8ft. pen fence
and ran away. The people on the boats were throwing food off the ship
and he went for some and slipped on some ice and got
caught between the ship and the wall. After 2 hrs. he
was rescued and treated and brought to the Welland Humane Society. The next
day my friend's brother called and said, "Your dog
is in the newspaper." He brought the paper over and we went to the
humane society and picked him up. He had soars on
his hips and shoulders.
About 2 years ago we got another German
Shepherd, Sasha who is now 2 years old. Freddie and Sasha have had 2
litters. In the first litter they had 2 girls, Emma and Melanie (who is now
18 months old) and in the second litter there were 9 puppies, 6 boys and 3
girls, of which we still have one boy, J.R. who is now 7 months old.
