Audrey (Named after Audrey Hepburn)

My husband and I knew the minute we saw Audrey covered with hay and dirty and underweight in a barn silo in the middle of February that we just had to bring the 13 week old female GSD home with us. The "breeder" (I use that term because I'm nice, I have other choice words for him) never touched her, he took her from her mom that lived in the house a 1/4 mile a way and shoved her in a silo ,we fear to freeze to death or die of starvation. We told him we wanted her and we got to take her home right away. She shook so hard but almost clung to me as we left, as if she knew we saved her. We got home (4 hour drive) and began our life with her, our precious delicate baby. She had an awful time at first , too afraid to stand tall, cowered when we stood over her, but we worked through it and within a week she was in love with us too. She has had a terrible time trusting people or other dogs, gee. wonder why??!!) We have gone through levels one and two obedience and a "fun and games" class. We do all we can to socialize her , but I believe it will be a long road but well worth it when she does learn to trust other people. We have had two scares with gastrointestinal bloat with Audrey too, but she is a trooper and pulled through just fine. She is just over a year now, and I have never felt such great love and admiration before, she is so courageous for all she has been through. So when people say that my dog has issues, I just believe they are jealous because they can't go home with a German Shepherd Dog...!!
