When you select QUOTE the smiley options come up automatically (along with other options). Or if you don't QUOTE, go down under the REPLY screen and you'll see a button, GO ADVANCED. Select this button and the smiley option (along with other options) will come up.

when you click on post reply you don't
see the icons to the right of the message box????  the area above the message box has an icon for them.
