How do I get a larger avatar?

I noticed that some people have avatars larger than the max size 100x100. Are they special? If so, how can I be special? Haha. I want a larger avatar too! It doesn't look like all of them are mods, because that was my first thought. Please help! Is there some loophole that I haven't figured out to increase the size of my avatar?

Just realized mine is 80x80 instead of 100x100. I'll fix that today. But still, some people's are bigger than 100x100.

Yes they are!!! I believe the Admins and Mods have that priviledge, while us peons in the trenches are limited to smaller ones.

Correct. Mods and Admins have slightly larger avatars. Somewhat of a priviledge but also to help people identify them. Everyone else is limited to the 100x100 size.

I also have an avatar question... Why is it blurry every time I upload it? It is presized to 100 x 100 pixels and the file size is 33.7 KB or less. So I don't see why it is degrading it... I have tried uploading it as a JPEG (100 x 100 33.7KB), PNG (100 x 100 25.7 KB), and a GIF (100 x 100 11.6 KB) but nothing is working this also happened to the last two profile pics I've uploaded.

Could someone please help me figure out what's going on?
