Thought I would share things as I discover them.

There is no "reply" button for each post.

If you want to reply, you can hit Quote, and then delete all the quoted material to do a regular reply.

You can hit the quick reply button on each post (bottom right of the post) that will take you down to the quick reply.

On the bottom left of threads it has "post reply". Is that what you are talking about? Or is that just for the whole thread? It's going to take me awhile to get used to this new board! I like it though. I just wish I could make the font smaller instead of larger

I think what she was saying is we USED to be able to reply to anyone in the thread, no matter where we were in longer threads, because each individual post had a 'Reply' option to it.

Now you can only reply to the last person on the thread, or the end of the thread. OR use the quote option in each individual post.

Oh, okay, I actually realized that AFTER I posted when it moved down LOL. That is true, you used to be able to see exactly who is replying to what. That may get confusing!

I think that the new 'quote' option that's available under each post takes the place of the 'old' reply we used. Like CLEARLY I'm responding to StarryNite because I just quoted them!!!

True, but everyone quoting may make threads really long and most people probably won't quote from habit (like me right now). I used to look up and think "are they talking to me?" and then see that they were replying to someone else. That will be missed for sure!

I think folks are going to need to quote more because the "reply to" doesn't say who they are replying to. But maybe just quote a bit of the thread.

The reason I was posting this, is because to just "reply", the only button requires scrolling to the end of the page, which is pretty silly if you want to reply to the second message on a page of 40!! So the quote option seems to be the most efficient, with the least amount of mouse movement.

I think you are right that we will just get good at using the new quote option, so it's clearer who we are responding to AND more efficient. It's also easy to prune down a quote so possibly the portion we are directly responding to (and who) just remains.
