Pruning/Search

1) Will there still be pruning? I hope not, since we have lost a LOT of excellent, informative threads,

2) Will the search window be opened up to an unlimited time frame to make searching much easier?

I was kinda wondering...along the same lines...is that "test site" just that? and not the finished product? because I'm down to 5 pm's over there...and they aren't even my 5 most recent......

That's definitely the test site, so don't post anything you really want/need.

Most of the functions are supposed to be working though, so we can get familiar with them before the change is permanent (next week?).

My questions were intended for the live production site, not the development site.

DianaM, my understanding is the intent is to move everything over. To the extent when they are doing it BOTH sites will be down in transition.

I also believe the search function is much more user friendly.

Any sites info you REALLY like or use as a reference, you may want to copy/paste or backup somewhere else. So if it does accidentally disappear you can re-post on the new site.

Remember, we Admins and Moderators are learning too, so will all be fumbling along the best we can for awhile!

I know everything will be moved over.... I just mean after a few years of posting, we will accumulate so many threads and so much info, and will those be pruned down like they are here?

No doubt there will be pruning of old posts, as done here, since there isn't unlimited space. My understanding is that there won't be a prune associated with the move though - all threads will be moved. After that, when and what is pruned, is a great question.

Search function on any forum is better than this one! You can go try on the test site now

And that is what I'd like to know. We have very aggressive pruning here so I am curious if there is enough server space to not prune so often, if at all (some sites do not prune).
