Hand Signals

I'm teaching my dog hand signals, and don't want to have to undo something. I've searched, but found inconsistent information.

Are there any real standards for hand signals? AKC or otherwise?

I don't think there is a standard. You might try searching older threads using the top center search block. Here's an old one, might be better ones though. Hand signals and whistle commands?

Thanks. The last time I taught hand signals was over 10 years ago (my last GSD) and just for personal communication convenience. This guy I have now could potentially do some AKC stuff.

I haven't looked into it in any detail, but see that AKC utility obedience requires hand signals.

Very likely I could be wrong, but I think you make up your own as long as its clear and concise with your dog. I've seen universal before, but nothing set as a standard. Maybe some with more experience will post.
