11 week old potty training issues
I have a 11 week old GSD puppy obviously and i have had him for a few months and as soon as i got him from the breeder I started with crate training. He does well with this. He sleeps at night in there and when i can't watch him i put him in there. Well during the crate training i started the house breaking process as well. Watching him all the time and taking him out like 20 mins after meals and after he wakes up and after i take him out of the crate. He lets me know when he needs to go #2 but he still urinates in the house. He holds it in is crate which i know dogs don't like to soil where they sleep. Its like if he gets the urge to urinate even if its a little he will just go regardless of where i am or where he is. I have tried praises when bringing him outside to urinate and treats but he can't seem to grasp it. Is there any tips you guys and give me or another routine to try or maybe a link? I'm really at a loss here and can't seem to get him to understand that i don't want him to urinate in the house. I heard don't rub their noses in it because it doesn't work. I would really appreciate it guys.
I'm certainly no expert but I also have an 11 week GSD (only had him 4 days so far) and I've been taking him out the same door to the same spot and I bring a small piece of boiled chicken and if he goes, he gets the chicken and lots of praise. Still struggling a bit bc it's freezing out and he just wants to go back inside when we go out. He's had a few accidents inside but he is starting to get it
We have having almost the exact same experience with our Male at 10 weeks. It seems he has poop down, pee, not so much. He has never soiled his crate. This morning he pee'd so long I think he fell asleep. That was so funny.
I can be thankful it is either on a rug or vinyl flooring 99% of the time. I know he will get it but tips would be appreciated here as well.
It seems our last shepherd, a female, caught on much faster. Any reality in that statement?
