Yes. Every class I've taken, I sign a new agreement. It's fairly cut and dry. It states what the trainer expects from me and what I should expect from her. Also there is a clause that clearly states refunds (if any) that could be provided.
I've never signed any agreement other than the usual disclaimer/waiver acknowledgement that there will be other dogs in the facility and sometimes things might happen between them.
I guess I'd find it a little peculiar to have an explicit contractual agreement for most of the classes I take. It wouldn't be off-putting, exactly, but I'd probably consider it pretty pointless.
Really depends on what it says. If it is a basic disclaimer, I would have no issue. If it said something about not using other trainers or disclosing what happens in class, I would run.
It seems that a lot of the agreements I've seen say something to the tune of 'if your dog is injured during training, the instructor isn't liable.' I've never signed an agreement with a trainer because I haven't been presented with one.
or if someone gets bitten, or your dog causes injury, or you fall and break your leg... etc, etc.
As a trainer I do not want anyone injured, and will take all steps I can to prevent it, but I can't control everyone or anticipate occurrences.
Insurance that I have only covers 3rd party injuries. It does not cover the owner or trainer.
Ha ha my trainer hasn't had me sign anything and that was even with his mal coming at me repeatedly for bites on the tug knowing full well if I screwed up the dog would hit me instead.
