a dog has very keen hearing -- see what happens when you talk to your dog "just under your breath".
dog comes in for recall -- get down close and under your breath "thhhhhaaat's a gooood boy" reallly breathy -- more connection looking for something , start off , breathy "where is it ?" breathy on whhhhhere -- go to your dog and make shshsh sound and see how attentive they become -- |

This isn't about punishment, though.
Never once did mention anything of that in this topic. I do think it is a good video, showing what I thought was on topic, no "attitude" in training and raising dogs, just neutrality... show the dog everything is cool. and isn't that common to show a growing dog "no big deal"? Not sure what the food has to do with it, common to use food, isn't it? I see no upset dogs, no angry handling, no compulsion, no avoidance; in fact, I see very nicely trained dogs to follow commands with no attitude on either side. But still keeping it interesting and fun for the dog. He does in fact say, "keep it fun, ... end the session on a good note" Carmen has a good point about the yaking, go to the park and see how many people are always saying something to their dogs, names, recall, sits, whatever. At training, can tell why some dogs don't listen to certain handlers, "Fido, stay, stay, stay, stay, stay, focus. Fido, no stay, stay, no focus, FOCUS" Last edited by jae; 02-21-2013 at 12:56 PM. |
