Treats for Training
I am wondering if someone can please let me know what training treats you use? If the GSD as a sensitive stomach is the a treat that would be good to use for training?

Zukes Mini Naturals – Dog Training Treats, The Perfect Training Treat for Dogs
I use these, break them up even smaller, string cheese for extra distractions, difficult concepts. Sometimes little pieces of cooked meat too. All tiny, which helps when the dog has a sensitive stomach, because sometimes they will get diarrhea... I use kibble at home many times. Meanie! ;) |
Zukes minis are great and I also will use freeze dried lamb lungs (in small pieces) and also natural nitrate free turkey hot dogs. Natural Balance also makes small rolls that you can cut up into small pieces.
With dogs that are food sensitive I always used treats that only had protein and nothing else like wheat or corn in them. Have fun training Herro :) |
Great thanks for your help. Where do you purchase Zukes mini's?🐾

They have a locator on their website: Find A Zuke's Retailer which is nice because it lists both online and local! One class I didn't break them up, and we used a ton of treats to charge some commands and there was definitely diarrhea, but they are easy to make smaller. :) Have fun!

I love Ziwipeak and Crumps freeze dried beef.

Yep we use Zukes mini naturals too..they even have some training treats with additives for hips & joint support as well. We are using Zukes with the puppy for training for bathroom and commands he loves them and is a quick learner with these vs some of the other treats we tried. Also I've used home made dehydrated or baked sweet potatoes, beets, livers as well.
