I would suggest a training class if you can, or even better if you can find an outdoor training class where they have you train in real life situations...

In our area there are several places that actually do drop-in group classes. If that's an option, they've been wonderful for us! It's nice to not have to commit to 6 or 8 weeks at the same night if that doesn't work for you and you can end up going to class 2 or 3 times a week if you have the time. Buuuut... you still get the "group class" benefit. I know with a hectic schedule that has been better for me.
